When Tech Meets Fashion
Jenna Mutya
Tech and fashion are separate worlds that once seemed too far ever to collide. Fast forward to today, the two fields need to work hand and hand to keep up with the wants and needs of consumers. Now, more than ever, consumers rely on technology to keep in touch with all things fashion. Social media is one influence. Since the birth of Instagram in October 2010, this social media site has become an educational platform for consumers to learn about the latest trends from fashion influencers, publications, runway shows, etc. According to Statistica, there are currently 4.26 billion users who engage on social media worldwide — that’s more than half of the world’s population! By being influenced by what they see on social media, consumers have adopted behavior that craves instant gratification and won’t hesitate to make immediate purchases at their fingertips. With this being said, it makes sense why technology is essential to the success of fashion. Fashion retailers need to be where consumers are…on their phones. Below is a list of popular fashion applications that have been elevating consumer shopping experiences.
